Happy Vacation - Uthlah saeedah.
Exercise 1- Paragraph 1
انتهت عطلة الصيف، وعاد التلاميذ إلى مدرستهم.
Inthahath uthlathus-saif, wa aada ath-thalaameezu ilaa madrasathihim.
The summer vacation ended, and the students returned to their school.
اجتمع الأصدقاء: أحمد وصابر وبدر ونادر في فِناءِ المدرسة.
Ijtamiu' al-asdiqaau: Ahmad wa Saabir wa Badr wa Nadir fi finaail-madrasathi.
Friends met: Ahmed, Sabir, Badr and Nadir in the school yard.
ثلاثة اشهر مضت لم يجتمعوا فيها.
Salaasatha ash-hur maddath lam yajthamioo feehaa.
It was three months since they had met.
قال أحمد لأصدقائه: أنا حزين لأن العطلة انتهت، وذهب وقت اللعب.
Qaala Ahmad li-asdiqaaihee: Ana hazeenun li-anna al-uthlatha inthahath, wa zahaba waqth al-laib.
Ahmed said to his friends: I am sad because the holiday is over, and play time is gone.
قال صابر: أنا سعيد لأن المدرسة فتحت أبوابها، و سأقابل أساتذتي وأصدقائي.
Qaala Saabir: Anaa saeedun li-anna al-madrasah fathahath abwaabahaa,wa sa-qaabilu usthaazathee wa asdiqaaee.
Sabir said: I am happy because the school opened its doors, and I will meet my teachers and friends.
قال بدر: نريد أن نعرف كيف قضى كل واحد منا عطلته.
Qaala Badr: Nureedu an naa'rifa kaifa qadaa kullu waahidin min-naa uthlathahu.
Badr said: We want to know how each of us spent his vacation.
Paragraph 2
قال نادر: سافرت بعيدا في عطلة الصيف.
Qaala Naadir: Saafarthu baeedan fee uthalathas saif.
Naadir said: I traveled away for the summer vacation.
قضيت أسبوعين في المخيم الصيفي.
Qadaithu usboo-ain fil mukhai-im is-saifee.
I spent two weeks at the summer camp.
على شاطئ البحر كان المخيم في الريف
Alaa shaathee al-bahr kaana al-mukhai-im fir-reef.
The Camp was on the beach of the country side.
كانت خيمتي قربية من البحر.
Kaanath khaimathee qareebathun min al-bahr.
My tent was near the sea.
ما أجمل ذلك الشاطئ! أظنه أجمل شاطئ في العالم
Maa ajmala zaalika ash-shaathee! Azun-nu-hu ajmala shaathee fil aalam.
What a beautiful beach that was! I think it is the most beautiful beach in the world
كنت أسبح في البحر أحيانا، وأجري فوق الرمال الدافئة أحيانا، وأنامُ على الشاطئ تحت الشمس أحيانا.
kunthu asbahu fil bahr ahyaanan, wa ajree fawqar-rimaal ad-daafiah ahyaanan,wa anaamu alaa shaathee thah-thash-shamsi ahyaanan.
I was sometimes swimming in the sea, sometimes running on the warm sand, and sometimes slept on the beach under the sun.
كنّا في العصر نلعب كرة القدم، أما في المساء فنذهب الى الخيم لتناول العشاء، ونستمع إلى القصص الجميلة، ثم ننام.
Kunna fil asri nalabu kurrah al-qadam, am-maa fil masaa fa-naz-habu ilal kai-yim li-thanaawala al-ishaa, wa nasthamiu' ilaa al qisas al jameelah, summa nanaam.
We used to play soccer in the after noon, but in the evenings we went to the tents for dinner, we listened to the beautiful stories, then we went to sleep.
ما أجمل تلك الأيام! لن أنساها أبدا.
Maa ajmala thilka al-ayyaam.Lan ansaa haa abadan.
How beautiful those days were! I will never forget it.
Paragraph 3
قال أحمد: قضيت العطلة في بلدي، لم أغادرها.
Qaala Ahmad: Qadaithu al-uthlah fee baladee lam ooghaadirhaa.
Ahmed said: I spent the holiday in my country, I did not leave it.
كنت أقضي الصباح في قراءة القصص والمجلات،
Kunthu aqdaa as-sabaah fee qiraa-athil qisas wal majal-laath,
I was spending the morning reading stories and magazines,
وفي العصر أذهب إلى النادي مع أصدقائي، وهناك نلعب كرة اليد،
wa fil asri azhabu ilaa naadee maa' asdiqaaee wa nala'bu kurrathal yad,
In the afternoon I went to the club with my friends, and there we played handball,
ونسبح في المسبح، ثم أذهب إلى غرفة المكتبة، لأقرأ بعض الكتب.
wa nasbahu fil masbahi, summa azhabu ilaa gurfathil maktabah,li-aqra-a ba-a'dul kuthub.
We swam in the pool, then I went to the library to read some books.
Paragraph 4
قال بدر: أنا قضيت العطلة في بلدي أيضا،
Qaala Badr: Anaa qadaithu al-uthlatha fee baladee aidan.
Badr said: I too spent the vacation in my country.
كنت أستيقظ في الصباح الباكر كل يوم، لأذهب مع والدي إلى المسجد لصلاة الفجر،
Kunthu Asthaiqizu fis-sabaahil baakiri kulla yawmin li-azhaba maa' waalidee ilal-masjid lisalaathil fajr.
I woke up early in the morning every day, to go with my father to the mosque to pray Fajr(the morning prayer),
ثم نعود إلى البيت، وأتناول الفطور.
Summa naoodu ilal-baithi,wa-athanaawalu al-futhoor.
Then we returned home and I ate breakfast.
بعد الفطور نتجه إلى مزرعتنا، لحصاد البرتقال والخوخ والليمون.
Badal futhoori nath-thajih-hu ilaa mazra-a'thi-naa li hasaadil burthaqaali wal-khookh wal-leimoon.
After breakfast we headed to our farm, to harvest orange, plum and lemon.
في العصر أشترك مع أهل الحئ في بناء المدرسة الجديدة،
Fil asri ashthariku maa' ahlil-hai-ee fee banaa il-madrasah al-jadeedah
In the afternoon I joined with the people of Al-locality in the construction of the new school,
وفى المساء أشاهد التلفزيون أحيانا، وأقرأ بعض القصص أحيانا، ثم أذهب إلى سريري لأنام.
Wa fil masaa ooshaahidu ath-thali-fizioon ahaanan wa aqraoo ba-a'dal qisas ahyaanan, summa azhabu ilaa sa-ree-ri li-anaam.
In the evening I watched television sometimes, read some stories sometimes, then I went to bed to sleep.
Paragraph 5
قال صابر: سافرت في العطلة إلى العاصمة، لأزور عمي.
Qaala Saabir: Saafarthu fil-oothlathah ilal-aasimah, li-azoora a'mmee.
Sabir said: I traveled to the capital during vacation, to visit my uncle.
قضيت هناك شهرا كاملا.
Qadaithu hunaaka shah-ran kaamilan.
I spent a whole month there.
زرت المتحف والمسرح، ورأيت مدينة الألعاب، وحديقة الحيوان.
Zurthul-mathhafi wal masrah, wa ra-aithu madeenatul al-a'aab,wa hadeeqathul haiwaan.
I visited the museum and the theater, and I saw the Sports city, and the zoo.
في العاصمة العمارات عالية، والشوارع واسعة، والسيارات جميلة، والأسواق كثيرة.
Fil aasimah al-imaaraath aaliyah,wash-shawaariy' waasia'h, was-saiyaaraath jameelah,wal-aswaaq kaseerah.
In the capital the buildings are tall, the streets are wide, the cars are beautiful, and there are many Malls.
اشترى لي عمي ملابس جميلة وساعة و حقيبة .
Ishtharee lee a'm-mee malaabis jameelah wa saa-a'h wa haqeebah.
My uncle bought me beautiful clothes, a watch and a bag.
Paragraph 6
صاح بدر: هذا صوت الجرس. هيا بنا إلى الفصل، لنبدأ العمل ، وكل عام وأنتم بخير
Saa-ah Badr: Haa-zaa sawth al-jaras. Haiyan binaa ilaal fasl li nabdaul-amal, wa kulla aam wa anthum bi-khair.
Badr shouted: This is the sound of the bell. Let's go to the classroom, let's start working, and All the best for the year ahead(Literally: The whole year and You shall be good)
